Specialisation and infrastructure of Fox Medialab Fox Medialab specialises in websites for museums and has already developed several virtual museums - from conception, design, programming up to project management. The cutting-edge refurbishment of a collection held by the Badische Landesmuseum into the “Virtual Museum Karlsruher Türkenbeute” gained international acclaim and brought Fox Medialab the Austrian National Prize for Multimedia in the category of “Culture and e-Entertainment” for best project of the year in 2003 (http://www.multimedia-staatspreis.at). In 2004, the project won first prize in the category of “Expositions Virtuelles” at the “Festival Audiovisuel International Musées et Patrimoine” in Taiwan, where the AVICOM committee of the International Council of Museums awards projects that are committed to the conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage (http://www.unesco.org/webworld/avicomfaimp/index.htm). For the first international online archive on topics of contraception and abortion, Fox Medialab has digitised the world greatest collection of corresponding objects and displays them on the internet since March of 2007. Fox Medialab was commissioned to develop a special database for the scientific
project on Rudolf Pöch, the main challenge consisting
in holding, structuring and cross-linking huge amounts of data. At this
Fox Medialab can draw on experiences gathered in the digitisation of other
museum collections and is now developing new approaches for the Rudolf
Pöch collection. |
